These terms cover the service — the API, the website and the software behind them. They do not, and cannot, restrict your rights in the openly licensed content the service returns.

Wikexa provides structured knowledge derived from English Wikipedia and Wikidata over an HTTP and MCP API at wikexa.com. It is operated as an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Wikimedia Foundation.
By calling the API or using the website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. We may update them; material changes will be reflected in the date above.
Article text is derived from English Wikipedia and is licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. Structured facts are derived from Wikidata and are CC0.
We assert no proprietary rights over that content, and nothing in these terms restricts what you may do with it. You may use, redistribute and adapt it — including commercially — subject only to the upstream licences themselves. Where you reuse BY-SA text you must attribute it and license your adaptation alike; every response carries source_url and license to make that straightforward.
This is deliberate. CC BY-SA 4.0 §2(a)(5)(B) prohibits imposing additional terms that restrict a recipient's exercise of the licensed rights, and we comply with it.
Our own contributions are separate from the source content and are licensed to you only for use of the service:
You may not copy or reverse engineer the service software itself, or use our name or marks to imply endorsement.
The free tier is provided for individuals, research, education and open-source projects, subject to fair-use rate limits. Sustained commercial or high-volume use requires a paid plan — see Licensing. Paid plans buy service guarantees (throughput, uptime, support), never rights in the content.
We may rate-limit, throttle or suspend access that degrades the service for others, including automated traffic that ignores published limits.
Do not use the service to break the law, to attack or overload our infrastructure or Wikimedia's, to strip attribution from BY-SA text you republish, or to present the content as endorsed by Wikexa or the Wikimedia Foundation.
The content is a machine-processed derivative of a volunteer-edited encyclopedia. It may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and our parsing may introduce its own errors. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial or safety-critical decisions. Verify anything that matters against the linked source.
The free tier is provided on a best-effort basis with no uptime commitment, and may change or be withdrawn. Paid plans carry whatever commitment their plan or agreement states.
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wikexa is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from use of the service. For paid plans our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months preceding the claim; for free use, it is limited to USD 100.
You agree to indemnify Wikexa against claims arising from your use of the service or your republication of content obtained through it, including failure to meet CC BY-SA attribution and share-alike obligations.
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend access for breach of these terms. Content you have already obtained remains yours to use under its own licence — termination of service access does not revoke CC BY-SA or CC0 rights, and could not.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
