Privacy

This policy explains what information we collect when you use Wikexa, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

Effective 31 July 2026

Information we collect

Wikexa has no accounts and no API keys, so we hold no profile for you. We do collect information automatically as you use the service:

  • Connection and device information, including your IP address, the network and network operator your request came from, the general location that network is registered in, and the client software you used (the user-agent string).
  • Request information, including the endpoint or tool called, the parameters in the request path, the response status, response time and referring page.

Our infrastructure provider, Cloudflare, additionally processes connection metadata in order to route, cache and protect traffic, under its own terms and retention.

Why we collect it

  • To provide and maintain the service — routing, caching, measuring latency and diagnosing faults.
  • To protect it — detecting abuse, enforcing rate limits and fair use, and investigating breaches of our Terms.
  • To improve it — understanding which tools and corpora are used, and planning capacity and coverage.
  • To support our business — understanding how the service is used commercially, and identifying organisations whose usage warrants a licensing or partnership conversation.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
  • We do not set cookies, and we run no third-party analytics, ad networks or tracking pixels.
  • We do not require or collect names, email addresses or payment details to use the API.

Sharing

We share information only with providers who process it on our behalf to run the service (such as our infrastructure and email providers), and where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse, enforce our terms, or protect the rights and safety of users and the public.

Retention

Usage records are kept in aggregate for as long as needed for the purposes above, and are periodically expired. We do not maintain long-term per-request archives.

Query content

What you send in a request — the entity, word or search query — is part of the request and appears in our usage records. Please do not send personal or confidential information in a query; the service only retrieves public reference material, so there is no reason to.

Legal bases and your rights

Where the GDPR, UK GDPR or comparable law applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, improving and sustaining the service. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of information relating to you, and to complain to a supervisory authority.

To exercise a right, write to us at wikexa.com/contact. Because API requests carry no account identifier, we may need enough detail — such as the address and approximate times involved — to locate relevant records, and we may be unable to act where we cannot.

International transfers

The service is delivered from a global edge network, so information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above.
