Acceptable Use Policy

This policy sits alongside our Terms of Service and describes conduct that is not permitted on Wikexa. It applies to everyone, on every tier, including free use.

Volume and extraction

  • Do not systematically download, scrape, crawl, mirror or accumulate the corpus, in whole or in substantial part, beyond what your own application needs to serve its own users.
  • Do not enumerate keys, walk identifier ranges, or otherwise harvest records for their own sake.
  • Do not distribute requests across multiple addresses, networks or identities in order to exceed limits that would otherwise apply to you.
  • Sustained commercial volume requires an agreement. Ask us — we would rather agree terms than throttle you.

Competing and derivative services

  • Do not re-host, proxy, white-label or resell the API as your own.
  • Do not use output to build a competing knowledge API, search index, or database product.
  • Do not use output to train, fine-tune, distil or benchmark machine learning models without a separate licence. We grant these — licensing.

Technical integrity

  • Do not attempt to reverse engineer the service, or to reconstruct the index, ranking model or pipeline from its behaviour.
  • Do not probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the service except under our security research terms below.
  • Do not interfere with the service or with the upstream sources it depends on, including by generating load that degrades them for others.
  • Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, data or account.

Content and conduct

  • Do not use the service unlawfully, or to facilitate unlawful activity.
  • Do not remove or obscure attribution, licence notices or source links we supply.
  • Do not present the service or its output as endorsed by us, by the Wikimedia Foundation, or by any source project.
  • Do not misrepresent output as authoritative where accuracy matters — see the accuracy warning in our Terms.

Security research

We welcome good-faith security research. If you are testing for vulnerabilities: stay within your own traffic, do not access or exfiltrate other users' data, do not degrade the service, and report what you find to security@wikexa.com before disclosing it. We will not pursue researchers who follow that.

Enforcement

We may investigate suspected breaches using the usage information described in our Privacy Policy. Depending on severity we may rate-limit, throttle, block or permanently terminate access, with or without notice, and we may contact the organisation responsible. Repeated or deliberate breaches may be referred to your network provider or to authorities.
